What’s “New” with Hyundai-Wia

September 16, 2016 / , Executive Editor, Modern Machine Shop

Simply put, the “new” is a rebranding program for Hyundai-Wia in the United States, which is represented by the new machine tool and CNC technology on display in the Itasca, Illinois, company’s Booth S-8948 as well as its new/refreshed global dealer network.

Multiple new machines are on display, but three the company feels are most notable include the LV800AW-TT vertical turning center specifically designed to manufacture aluminum wheels. This two-turret, high-speed machine is designed with automation in mind, using the company’s robotics and conveyor system to turns a single cutting machine into a complete aluminum wheel manufacturing system. In addition, the XF6300 five-axis vertical machining center is said to offer increased rigidity and accuracy to machine precision components, thanks in part to its cooled, high-speed spindle and box-in-box structure. The I-CUT400M&T combines accuracy and high speed, and represents the future of tapping centers, the company says.

IMTS 2016 also represents the launch of the new Hyundai-iTROL series of intelligent controls, on display for the first time. These controls offer a number of features. Among them are machine status overview, which shows the current status of the machine and notifies the operator if there are any problems; ECO energy-saving mode with Smart function, which offers active feed control to reduce cycle times; tool and spindle monitoring, which aids in tool management, spindle protection and factory automation; and Remote IT Solution, which provides machine monitoring and alarm notification by email, as well as other options within a shop’s in-house network.

When you visit Hyundai-Wia’s booth in the South Hall, also ask about its new global dealer network. The company says it has brought on a number of new and better dealers to best serve the needs of its customers, resulting in improved territory coverage, larger service coverage, enhanced after-sale support and better parts management.
