IMTS 2016 Show Daily

Introducing the MMS Top Shops Exhibit

September 15, 2016 / , Executive Editor, Modern Machine Shop

IMTS visitors will notice something new as they enter McCormick Place’s West Hall. After a successful four-show run, the Modern Machine Shop- and IMTS-presented Advanced Manufacturing Center, which featured collaborations with manufacturing leaders like Boeing, GE Aviation, Rolls-Royce, Lotus F1 and more, has been replaced with MMS’s new Top Shops display.

This new IMTS attraction brings to life the brand’s annual Top Shops program. Now in its sixth year, Top Shops is the machining and metalworking industry’s premier resource for identifying operational and business metrics that define world-class competitiveness.

Visitors to booth will notice an emphasis not just on the products and the processes that are driving manufacturing, but, more importantly, on learning and interacting with their peers. Most notably, IMTS marks the debut of the Top Shops Hall of Fame, a collection of machined logo displays and company profiles celebrating past Top Shop honorees. These represent manufacturing professionals who have shared their tips, tools and technologies in an effort to not just benchmark their own business, but to provide other manufacturing enterprises information that can help them improve their operations.

In addition to the Hall of Fame, attendees will be introduced to new concepts and disruptive technologies—like additive manufacturing, augmented reality, automotive and aerospace machining, sustainability, digital manufacturing and more—that are redefining how a modern machine shop operates. The Top Shops booth also features business development and management strategies that help companies run more productively and profitably. Visitors can see how their shop compares to other leading manufacturers based on a range of key benchmarking survey metrics that define what upper-echelon “top shops” are.

Modern Machine Shop Top Shops is located at the entrance to the West Hall, Booth W-10. Stop by to experience a technology demo, learn from past Top Shops or to pick-up the latest Modern Machine Shop T-shirt. Walk away with knowledge of the people, the products and the processes that can help your shop continue to grow.
