Aphrodite Appearance?

Takumi’s tagline, “The Art of Productivity,” inspired the use of a Venus De Milo sculpture demo on the new U800.

Yes, it is true, Aphrodite of Milos, better known as the Venus de Milo, has been seen on the show floor. This ancient Greek beauty and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture is standing (though as only a 20-inch tall replica, not her typical 80 inches) at the Takumi booth in the South Building.

She is present to demonstrate the company’s new U800 high-speed, five-axis gantry machining center, developed specifically for mold and die, aerospace and other high-speed applications that require tighter tolerances.

Takumi’s tagline, “The Art of Productivity,” which is a rough translation of the word Takumi, inspired the use of this Venus De Milo sculpture demo on the new U800. “Plus,” says Takumi Marketing Manager Maggie Smith, “five-axis technology illustrates the art of productivity perfectly.”

This five-axis simultaneous cutting demonstration uses 4140 steel to showcase the machine’s rigid construction, speed, and superior part surface finish. Takumi, in partnership with Cimquest using Mastercam five-axis tool paths, provided programming of the Venus De Milo.

Make sure to stop by to check out additional booth events, including a hybrid manufacturing demonstration, using a Takumi H12 in partnership with 3D Hybrid Solutions, and a lesson in how to “make more chips” with the Takumi FANUC H control on the heavy-duty Takumi V11 machining center in a partnership with Greenleaf Corp.
